The Parliament of Stratham enacts:
Section 1. Short Title
(1) This Act is the Defamation Acts.
Section 2. Commencement
(1) All Provisions shall come into effect upon passage.
Section 3.
(1)Define defamation as: Defamation is the act of communicating a false statement that injures a third party's reputation. The tort of defamation includes both libel and slander.
(2)Define libel as: Libel is a method of defamation expressed by print, writing, pictures, signs, effigies, or any communication embodied in physical form that is injurious to a person's reputation, exposes a person to public hatred, contempt or ridicule, or injures a person in his/her business, profession or organization.
(3)Define Slander as: A false statement, usually made through discord messages, which defames another person’s reputation, business, profession, or organization.

(5)Outlaw Libel
(a) 1st Offense: 100kr fine and a public apology
(b) 2nd Offense: 250kr fine, a public apology and recommended removal of News company (if applicable)
(c) 3rd Offense: 750kr fine, a public apology and removal of News company (if applicable)
(6)Outlaw Slander
(a) 1st Offense: 100kr fine and a public apology
(b) 2nd Offense: 250kr fine and a public apology
(c) 3rd Offense: 450kr fine and a public apology
(7)In order for one to be guilty of Defamation, Slander, or Libel, they must first be found guilty by the Courts.
(8)The Courts may add punishments as they see fit on a case-by-case basis.
